Stephen Drehobl, the head instructor in the Collegeville school, has studied Uechi Ryu since 1980, and holds the rank of Fourth Degree Black Belt in the Uechi Ryu Karate Do Association studying with Eighth Degree Master James Thompson.  Mr. Drehobl has traveled to Okinawa to train at various schools including the home Dojo of the Uechi family in Futenma.  Before moving to the Philadelphia area from Michigan, Mr. Drehobl operated the Uechi Ryu Karate School in Ann Arbor as head instructor for three years.
